Also this is a Part 2... 2 weeks ago, I shared the steps I took to "win" a Winter Writing Contest last year.
Yes, a year ago, and definitely, its pretty silly. Yet the entire background story is pretty hilarious, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to share.
Read up on all the (not really) gory details here.
Anyone have Christmas plans? Strange that the New Year is right around the corner already, school halfway through.
Snow fell on the windows
As if it never snowed before
Loud and sharp
And I closed my eyes
Snow storms in the city
Arent like snowstorms
in the sticks
Theyre is noise of
sirens, bells, and wailing
instead of a loud hushed
peace
I take a breath of air
and a sip of tea
trying to warm up
little ol' me
Lonesome am I and
forever alone
my heart is cold and
desperate
In this world that has lost its gleam
The tree back at home
Ma said Pa would fell
I see it there,
missing from meadow
Snow storms in the city
Arent like snowstorms
in the sticks
Cars race by in fury
and exhaust fills up the air
A carol in my heart cries
Hark the Herald Angels...
and forgets to finish off
In this world that has lost its gleam
Items fill up longings
I say and no one hears:
Jesus should remain there
this and all other years
Snow storms in the city
Arent like snowstorms
in the sticks
Maybe I'll be merry
but maybe not today
A day that love is still lost
In this world that has lost its gleam
Snow storms in the city
Arent like snowstorms
in the sticks
Snow fell on the windows
As if it never snowed before
Loud and sharp
And I closed my eyes
An owl cried out nearby
And wind howled through the trees
Silence I requested
I opened my eyes and saw
you
"The City" is a metaphor in this poem.
