But we had stepped inside to look around at what they were selling and one of the workers of the gas station walks up excitedly to ask "Y'all Amish?"
"No" we said. "We are not Amish. Why do you ask?"
And she said something like "Oh, well, there is something different about y'all, lookin' more or less like the Amish I see on TV and all"
And we stuttered for a reply, even though, for me, I know its not the first time Ive ever been labeled that way. In fact, we've been asked almost a handful of times this week alone. And for that reason how silly that our answer had a rough takeoff!
In fact, the first thing that came to my mind was the verse 1 Peter 3:15, which although I didnt remember word for word at the time says of how we are to be "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason..."
The reason we have hope.
The reason why we are set apart from the world as we mature as Christians.
The reason why, as we grow more and more in our relationship with God, that we should shine like light in the darkness.
As we went on to witness and tell this woman the Jesus we live for, this video came to mind and I want to encourage you to watch it (as long as it is) because in a similar encounter you will very likely find its tips useful in sharing the gospel.
