I have several friends and penpals, both within the United States and outside of it. Yesterday, by chance I was able to "meet" a girl from Turkey and chat with her online for a few minutes.
One of the things she shared with me was the word "sunnah", which she explained to be a religious term used to to mean that "Islamic believers are called to do what he [Muhammad] did" and would approve of.
Personally, I found it very interesting that the literal translation is something along the lines of: a clear and well trodden path; a way of life.
And I thought of John 14:6 which says "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Upon sharing the verse with her and explaining I was a Christian.... guess what her response was?
She said "I did not understand...I do not know much about Christianity."
Literal translation: She didnt know who Jesus was at all.
Let that sink in.
*Note: This is nothing against Muslim people, Turkish people, or my friend herself; Then again, nor do I mean to agree with their every belief. Its to make a point that we can all plant a seed in someones life for the better. Let that sink in.
