This is a project I did last fall and promised to post... By the time I had it done, I wasnt sure if people would be interested in starting a big project .So here we are and if you want to start now, you should have plenty of time before it it too cold and you want to wear something else out.
Also I would like to point out that this will keep you *very* warm at your body, even sweaty, but your arms will be cold still based on the sleeveless design. Wear indoors at your own risk.
Step 1: Crochet a big rectangle. Actually, you could also knit it. Just a rectangle big enough that at least 8 people ask "You are you making that 'blanket' for?"
Mine was using a J or K hook and with both double and single stitch rows. You dont have to make one like mine and this is the hardest part so be original and have fun with it.
Mind was about 40 by 36.
Then, you fold it in half. You want to fold it so that it still looks squarish, and the rows are vertical.
Then "sew" the two sides up from the bottom, save six to nine inches. These are your arm holes.
Then, you adjust your little garment so that the seams are in the the middle and roll the edges, so it looks like there is a collar. Its sort of hard to explain. But you definitely want to roll the edges else the backside will look saggy.
And that is bad, lol. Even I know that and I have no fashion sense :)
vv Below you can see what stitching looks like, another example, and hilarious year-old photos of yours truly using a timer on my camera and a parked car in the driveway to help me out :) vv
