Made It Thu Monday: Blonde Jokes

Sorry everyone! I had a concert to sing tonight and forgot to post. Here you go!

Did you know that before I officially started blogging, I went through my old email forwards for the "greatest hits" and posted 72 posts containing them?

No?

Good, I had forgotten too. Fortunately, I still like this stuff.

#1: Two blondes traveled 2 hours from town and walked deep into the woods searching for a Christmas tree. They were all warmly dressed from head to toe carrying their saw, hatchet and a rope to drag the Christmas tree back to the car. They had thought of every little detail planning this trip. The two blondes were so determined to find the perfect Christmas tree. So determined, that they searched for hours slugging through knee-deep snow, blistering wind and weren't even distracted!

Finally, five hours had passed and the sun was beginning to set, so one blonde turned to the other blonde and said, "I give up. I cant take this anymore... There are hundreds of beautiful Christmas trees all around us. Let's just cut one down whether it's decorated or not!!"

#2: Did you hear of this girl:

She spent 20 minutes looking at the orange juice box because it said "concentrate.

She put lipstick on her forehead because she wanted to make up her mind.

She tried to put M&M's in alphebetical order.

She sent me a fax with a stamp on it.

She tried to drown a fish.

She thought quarterback was a refund.

She tripped over a cordless phone.

She took a ruler to bed to see how long she slept.

She asked for a price check at the dollar store.

She studied for a blood test.

When she heard that 90% of all crimes occur around the home, she moved.

When she took you to the airport and saw a sign that said "airport left" she turned around and went home.

She got locked in a grocery store and starved to death.

Dearest Evolutionist.

Hi there. I mean you no harm. In fact, I simply wanted to write a letter to see how you were and what has been running through your mind; and to say I care about you even though some of our beliefs differ.

I have heard a lot how you think the world began from a Big Bang long ago. Where did the space for this come from? The time? The energy? The matter? Life itself? In middle school I remember a lesson that taught us that life does not come from non life. You will never have a bag of grain produce mice, or any other life, as many once thought. So then why should we believe *all* the life to come from a few basic non-living elements?

Further questions emerge as well: In our world that is scientifically going to chaos and destruction, how would elements gain protons or DNA chromosomes?

How do we have recessive traits like blue eyed and red haired people if these traits are diminishing rapidly in populations?

Such a long time ago, the moon would have been unstably close to earth, how was that supposed to work out? And as it collects 1mm (aka point oh four inches!) of dust every 10,000 years that is never eroded, why was there only an itsy bit when astronauts landed on the surface? Why arent we seeing a quarter mile of dust hanging around on the moon-- and more than that in our atmosphere too? Or over the ocean floor? Where did all that stuff end up?

Why havent salt and fresh water fish been able to thrive in the alternate environment if sea animals were the first to be there? Isnt a few million years enough time to sort that out?

And really: If all life originated in the sea, why are we not swimming? Why are we not breathing with gills? Why am I not a super-strength mermaid in a lovely oasis of intelligent life, but a two legged person with curves, wisdom teeth, and imperfect eyesight? Is that what evolution would let happen?

And this: How is gravity accidentally perfect? No one is bouncing into space, no one is permanently glued to the pavement, you know Earth just happens to be able to sustain life--- Pretty complex life too, if you have ever studied human anatomy or zoology, or oh, well anything--- which just to happens to be in the habitable spot in the solar system, which just to happens to be in the habitable spot in the galaxy between two spiral arms so it just so happens that we're safe.....

How do our bodies need oxygen and just happen to be on a planet with enough of it in the atmosphere? How could things have evolved to digest food into molecules that provide energy and nutrients to the organism? How, in turn, are some people are allergic to peanut butter and eggs and trees and different things? How does evolution teach bodies to heal when we get a cut or bruise? Imagine the first starfish that conveniently regenerated an arm out of the blue instead of keeling over, or the first chameleon to change its skin hues as a camouflage technique. How even? And why cant I do that too? Cant I be purple?

As a Christian, I can answer these questions with "In the beginning, God". God, the eternal, omnipresent, nonphysical, all powerful Creator who we get to know in the pages of the Bible, meets all of the requirements: He not controlled by time, space, matter, energy, etc. which seems much more stable and believable than what I have heard you say "We must assume and simply move on".

Has anyone asked you to prove evolution with science before? May I do that just now?

One of the quirks of evolution is that time is this magic wand that makes anything possible. Clearly, when you say that there was not intelligent design, you need lots and lots of time for elements to become pond scum to become bugs and rodents and mammals, such as people. People who can think and build and communicate... coming from pond scum? Thats fairly insulting!

In fact, to compliment this "wand", evolution itself sounds like a Disney fairy tale: You kiss a frog and it turns into a prince... as long as you have enough time of course. Who made up that logic? If you do not believe in God (yet, lol) you likely havent ever thought about how silly it is for such dramatic changes. We could never have them in a short period of time.

But there is little evidence that there was lots of time, actually. The Bible says the earth is 6000ish years old and this is much more realistic.

Where are the bones of a million years of people? Of animals? If we have been evolving for so long, why can't we fly or live forever?

It's funny though because I have heard you say fossil records are evidence for evolution. How can this be?

In my ninth grade biology class we learned that fossils only are create when the creature dies and is soon buried with lots of soil and rock. Fossils being all over the earth suggest a world wide or regional catastrophe....

What I am trying to say is that I doubt the layers were created in different eras over a long period of time. Many cultures believe there was a world wide flood, this isnt new news. If the earth was covered in water for almost a year, and then drained into the core, we would expect the soil to sift into layers. The larger animals at the bottom, and flying dinosaurs and birds at the top since they have a lower density and would be more prone to floating.

(The Bible does say that humans lived with large lizards only a few thousand years ago. Fossils suggest many died in the flood, and history has legend of "slaying dragons" to account for many more. I have read that reptiles never stop growing so it would be interesting to see them at very very old ages and how they match up with dino fossils. Humans lived 13x as long pre-flood for a few different reasons, so why not certain animals too?

It makes much more sense that these were created all at once with different rocks being formed by the soil type there, and not sporadic deaths or several catastrophes over a long period of time. If it was animals naturally dying we wouldnt really have fossils, and if time were the case, wouldnt we see lots of erosion between the layers? I have seen photos of the Grand Canyon, maybe you have as well, and are the layers not a lot of nice horizontal lines?

Btw. Carbon is often referenced to defend the fossils me but did you know that carbon is actually not a good dating tool once you go back so far? Carbon dating is limited to living things (not rocks!) and C-14 decays back to N-14 with a measured half-life of only 5,730 years. It also assumes there is a constant rate of deterioration and that there were no other factors. The Bible teaches that there was such a thing: A global flood! This would have covered pre-flood land and animals and washed out large amounts of carbon-14, particularly as limestone (calcium carbonate) was precipitated, making things seem much older.

Certainly you can't believe we can determine dates millions or billions of years before this moment anyway, though, right?.

I really don't think that these fossils of yours are really the gems you refer to them as. How can bones in the earth prove llamas and bananas and butterflies and pine tree and your best friend have a common ancestor?

(Okay, I get that evolution isnt supposed to be sudden but slow adaptations but its not really any better to try to think of something half llama/ half pine tree or half butterfly/ half best friend.)

But in all seriousness, I agree that some creatures do have similarities but to me this tells me that there was a common designer. Might I give you an illustration?

When a programmer is making code, often they will repeat what is good. Or, when a car is being designed, the manufacturer will use other cars as a model instead of starting entirely anew. In no way can similarities prove the program evolved, or the car, instead they say someone created these things. That makes sense right?

Likewise, if I talk about art: If you see a painting, how can that not imply a painter? We have creation all around us, so cant there be a Creator?

I write you this letter because I care about you. I would love to "plant seeds" about Bible messages- God loves. Sin Separates. Jesus saves.- and really just make Christ known. Yet, against what seems obvious, nearly every college and institution supports the ideas of evolution which are foundationally incompatible with Christian truths; Even though it doesn't make sense for life to come from non life, many still believe it. Actually, the bible tells us that they are willingly ignorant, some translations as much as stupid on purpose. These want you to fall in this trap as well, and why would I not take action?

Creation, the Global Flood and Judgement to come are the three topics 2 Peter 3 says people will be willingly ignorant of. God creating the earth means he can govern his Earth and allows that we have a fallen nature that demands to be remedied, God flooding the Earth over means he is able to judge it dramatically. Judgement to come means he can yet inflict "wrath" against evil such as in burning sulfur and eternal death again. This touches everyone who is not saved and because God is who he is (Post coming soon!)

And, because I believe that the Bible is as true as and compatible with science, I wrote to give you a warning not to listen to this evolution nonsense. Sometimes these things can be very persuasive, but keep fighting for the Kingdom and dont look back. If we look in the Bible, and if we understand scientific data correctly, they will not contradict each other. God is the author of both scriptural truth and scientific truth and only there will we find things finally begin to add up :) Many have creation/evolution as a weak spot in their armor where the devil wants to trap us and it would be so disappointing to let him, the Father of Lies, fool you into disbelief.

If you will not listen to me, I give you the words of the walls of the Library of Congress that stood out to me on a recent trip: Books must follow science and not science books.

I would love to propose that you consider these things above, and if you would like to leave a comment, I can send you links of videos which discuss many of these points in greater detail and also the title of a book which also puts things plainly and logically.

All the best,
Kate
