A word from Kate:
Essential oils are pretty amazing and I asked my friend M. Durham from tsu if she would submit a post on them for my blog because she knows all about them. Thankfully she agreed :)

Oh, and the Giveaway and Photo Contest are both over for now. Thanks all who entered and I will be contacting the giveaway winner, "bn100", soon.

Now for the post, finally :)
_____

Essential oils are made of aromatic liquids that come from all types of natural plants. They can be used in the following ways: topical application, aromatic diffusing, direct inhalation, and internal consumption. Although there are many brands currently on the market, I choose to use Young Living Essential Oils because of their Seed to Seal process. The Seed to Seal process ensures the standard of purity for the essential oils is set, beginning with the seeds that are planted and continuing on through the production process, through the finalized product that is sold to consumers.

Essential oils have been used since biblical times. They existed before modern medicine and pharmaceutical products were made. While modern medicine has greatly helped our society, there are still common everyday minor ailments that can help to be treated naturally with essential oils. For instance, my family uses essential oils to help treat things such as: headaches, rashes, stress, insect bites, stomach aches, burns, cuts, acne, blisters, anxiety, depression, energy, detoxifying the body, immune support, air purifying, cold sores, sore muscles, menstrual cramps, food and drink flavoring, soothing, calming, and so much more.

Before I learned about essential oils I was like many consumers and went to large retail chain stores to purchase health and medicinal products. I was purchasing products that had ingredients that I could not pronounce and that I had never even heard of before. For some reason I trusted that these products were safe for my body, just because they were available and being sold in those stores. Thankfully I came across Young Living Essential Oils, and I can never go back now! Since first coming across these essential oils, I have thrown away most all of the retail chain store health and medicinal products that I owned, and have used the essential oils to give my medicine cabinet a complete makeover. Since essential oils are fully natural products, I am confident that they are safe and I feel good about using them for myself and for my family.

Here are a few updates before I let you read the post:
1)Emmy Grace from His Handiwork Jewelry wanted me to make a shout out since I love her eyeglass holder chains so much:  You wont want to miss her shop's sale this weekend.
2) The end of my giveaway is almost here. Have you entered?
3) The photo contest is almost over too! You dont want to miss it either.

----

Day 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant.

Day 761 - Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded; must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair...must try this on their bed.

Day 762 - Slept all day so that I could annoy my captors with sleep deprivation, incessant pleas for food at all hours of the night.

Day 767 - Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body in an attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was...Hmmm. Not working according to plan.

Day 768 - I am finally aware of how sadistic they are. For no good reason I was chosen for the water torture. This time, however, it included a burning foamy chemical called "shampoo." What sick minds could invent such a liquid? My only consolation is the piece of thumb still stuck between my teeth. :)

Day 774 - I am convinced the other captives are “flunkies” and may be snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously very confused. The bird, on the other hand, has got to be an informant. He has mastered their frightful tongue, something akin to mole speak, and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal cage, his safety is assured. But I can wait, it is only a matter of time...

Growing in Grace: Pressure, Triggers, and God

Pressure, Triggers, and God  (or My Journey with Trich)

***Isnt the picture pretty? :)

Trich is where you pull out your hair. The medical term is trichotillomania. For me it started a few years ago when I had a patch of brittle hair and they annoyed me to no end.

So I pulled them all out (and then some) because that just felt like the right thing to do.

In the moment. Especially with triggers.

Triggers like worry and low self esteem and lack of support. Circular problems, if you are following me.

Pressure is good, you know, beneficial. Like the oyster making a pearl or nature a diamond.

But I think we all need support. Or maybe better said: love.

Because without it, where would we be?

The answer: We'd be slaves of these triggers and slaves of this world.

Triggers that we might not have yet pinpointed, but ones we need help in overcoming. Because that is where healing lies.

You know, trich has "mania" in it but I don't want to be defined like that!!! I just need God and caring people to help me when I fall that is to day so I do not peruse  trich but avoid- and have victory over- these triggers.

I have friends that struggle with mental disorders and this is one thing of what I have decided: They don't need belittling of *any* kind because to them, life is hard enough as it is already.

I understand (Even though not enough to give myself right to say that). I understand  that most things we will try to help others in the ways they need it won't work.

Now let's thing of God for a moment:

He came to Earth, born into human flesh as Jesus. Jesus, the Bible says knows because he had every temptation, every feeling that comes to us. He understands.

Pressure for Jesus was standing against the Pharisees (remember the adulteress in John?) and any word he spoke wrong they wanted to attack him for.

They wanted to throw him under the bus and maybe stone him for good measure... but did he falter? Did he give up?

No, he had God, the Father.

I challenge you these two, scratch that, three things.

#1. Remember that God love you and if you ask him to come into your life, that you are ready to leave your disobedience to Him and accept forgiveness thru grace that He will *never* leave you.  It's true!!! He understands all your pain, I promise!

#2. And that God wants to use you. He wants you to share love, just as he has shown love to us. Think of those that need it.

#3. And that God wants to use you not just today and tommorrow, but the day after that and the day after that. Stand strong to what you believe and do not waver... (refer to #1)

meet my resume take 2

This is different than part 1 and 2.

1. My first job was working in an orange juice factory, but I got canned. I couldn’t concentrate.

2. Then I worked in the woods as a lumberjack, but I just couldn’t hack it, so they gave me the axe.

3. After that, I tried to be a tailor, but I just wasn’t suited for it–mainly because it was a sew-sew job.

4. Next, I tried working in a muffler factory, but that was too exhausting.

5. Then, I tried to be a chef – figured it would add a little spice to my life, but I just didn’t have the thyme.

6. I attempted to be a deli worker, but any way I sliced it I couldn’t cut the mustard.

7. My best job was a musician, but eventually I found I wasn’t noteworthy.

8. I studied a long time to become a doctor, but I didn’t have any patience.

9. Next, was a job in a shoe factory. I tried but I just didn’t fit in.

10. I became a professional fisherman, but discovered that I couldn’t live on my net income.

11. I managed to get a good job working for a pool maintenance company, but the work was just too draining.

12. So then I got a job in a workout centre, but they said I wasn’t fit for the job.

13. After many years of trying to find steady work, I finally got a job as a historian–until I realized there was no future in it.

14. My last job was working in Starbuck’s, but I had to quit because it was always the same old grind.
