Relentless (A Spoken Word)

I found a thing by Jon and I think its cool. Let me quote:
This is something I wrote last night... its called Relentless and for those of you who dont like sermons, maybe you'll enjoy this.

Relentless.

Relent less.
Less refers to a lack;
an absense; being without.
Therefore relentless
equals without relent,
no period matter period what.

Count the cost, no relent.
Suffer a loss, no relent.
Crappy boss, no relent.
Death on a cross, you bet.

Things get tough, no relent.
Life gets rough, no relent.
Caught in sin, sickness comes in,
ashamed of who you've been, no relent.

Not enough bread, mouths unfed
parents unwed, tears being shed, spiritually dead,
no relent.

Caught in jail, against the rail,
Tragic tale, doomed to fail,
no relent.

Comfort gone, outside your zone
feeling lost, away from home.
Isolation, being alone.
No relent.

Repent, but no relent.
Reinvent, but no relent.
Broken and bent, but no relent.
Relentless as in a lack of

an absence of, without relent.

So to the few, as in you,
the ones who are sent, no relent.

no period matter period what.

Blog update!!

Sooo..... about Mid-April I drafted a ton of posts and scheduled them on the appropriate days so that April, May, and most of June were out of the way.

Although its been really handy not to have to worry about what to post, I have also fallen wayyyyy behind on reviews and they are collecting in a large pile on my shelf.

And the important part is that there will be a ton of them coming your way starting next week until who knows when and I wanted to give you all a heads up.

Typically I wouldnt do a review every single week, however I also feel bad about them being late. Right now this is my list of things to review:
  • Toji Pure Density Hair Nutrition
  • The Dark Side of Islam
  • Showing Heart
  • The Blessings of Humility
  • Boys Slimline NLT Bible
  • College Rules!
  • A Treasure Concealed
  • Africa NLT Bible
  • The Gift
  • Probably a few ebooks

I also have like maybe 8 AP Review posts which I think I can do in 2 or 3 posts. Some were super helpful, others were not at all. :/

And as always, although I have most of the post spaces blocked out already, I still welcome guest posts and different collaboration things. Let me know if you want to submit anything!!

Questions (AND OTHER Important THINGS) TO BRING to College Fairs

5/12/2016

Alright. So your high school is hosting a College Fair? You're driving a few hours to see one? Here are some things you might find helpful:
  • Search the list of colleges that will be there ahead of time. Search a few, get a good idea of which ones you really want to speak with.
  • If you are interested in a school that is going to be there, get an unofficial transcript from your counselor if you would like to see what you need to do to be accepted. This is specifically helpful for SAT/ACT scores and to see if you have taken the required classes.
  • Print 5-10 labels to stick on information cards. This should have your name, address, email, phone, high school, year of graduation, intended major(s), GPA, scores, and extracurricular activities. You dont need to sign up for all of the colleges you talk with so print as many as you think you will need.
  • Register online ahead of time. If you register, they *may* create the above stickers for you. The one I attended did not. The website may also list time there will be a speaker on important topics including financial aid. Plan to be there for at least one.
  • Print your list of questions or write them down.
  • Bring a small backpack to shove things in. Great idea, I promise.
  • Other items that might be helpful: Money for a snack or shirt, water, chap stick

Good General Questions:
  • What study abroad options do you have? What percentage of students participate?
  • Do you offer 1-2 week residential summer camps? When are the deadlines?
  • Is your school suburban or urban? What is the student: faculty ratio?

Good Serious Questions:
  • Is it difficult to register for classes or enroll in the courses you need?
  • How well are undergrads able to get to know their professors?

At the fair, there will be tons of kids and tons of colleges. You dont have time to ask unnecessary questions and neither do the college representatives. I would recommend not asking questions which are on their handouts or questions which will cause the rep to ramble forever and ever.

Sample Questions NOT to ask:
  • What is the freshman retention rate?
  • What scores do you require?
  • What majors are there?
  • What do you love most about this school?

These are good questions, but probably not ones you need to ask.
