***My Yahoo email subscribers are  suffering from lack-of-posts-in-the-inbox-itis. I know and I'm working at fixing this.

A friend of the family used to mail out "Gleamings" before she passed on... they consisted of humor among other things; The following has been gathered from various of these Gleamings.

A young mother was having trouble with her boy, who was moving on to solid foods. She was told to give him lots of veggies, but it turns out that jalapeno was not a favorite.

One lady was at a ice cream store and noticed that a very famous actor was directly in front of her in line. After leaving, she noticed that she left her cone in the store. After waiting a few minutes, she went back in, only to see it no where. Then, the actor taps her on the shoulder saying "If you are looking for you ice cream, you might want to look into your purse. "

One teacher had gotten a specific procedure done that required that he wear an upper body cast, which under a shirt is not noticeable. Upon the first day of school, he learns that he has the toughtest kids in the school and has to open the window to cool off his room... He notices that his tie was blowing unrealistically, so he got the stapler, for lack of better options, and stapled the tie to his chest. The students behaved rather nicely.

One boy was having trouble keeping quite durng the sermon, so his mother told him "If you dont be quiet, Paster Jones is going to lose his place and have to start all over again". Problem solved; no offense intended.

One lady notices her husband standing on the bathroom scale, and tucking in his ample stomach.... I dont think that will help, dear, she says, thinking he imagines the manuever will make him weigh less. Sure it helps, he begins. How else will I be able to read the numbers?

On final note:  I had seen this one video... an April Fools prank (I'm not waiting until next year!) to play on a teacher.... Click here to watch the video and don't take it to seriously.

Newspapers and a Linky

See, I'll always think that newspapers a little bit strange, partially because of the strange things you'll read about within them:

For example, I was
deleting old files with no reason to keep them earlier, and came across an article I'd, for whatever reason, saved from 2010, where between 950 and 1000 dead pigs were found on a Fulton County farm after their owners both split, neither thinking of the animals with their extended absences, specifically the man, who was the most recent resident.....

The remains were found when a real estate agent was trying to assess the 216 acre land's value, not from any family member or neighbor, etc. Poor lady, right?

And lets face it: How insane, inane is that?

And if you are interested in the statistics,
todays price per lbs for hogs is $1.21, so multiply that by 1000 by 265 lbs... my calculation is....  a lot of money.

Oh, and since this post is so short; here was the online story: link.

  1. Link up any post that fits into the awesome, recent, and wholesome categories to this week’s linky.
  2. Please place the linky button on your sidebar or otherwise link it where I can find it.
Spend a moment to comment on a post or two and subscribe so you can come back next week!

Growing in Grace: A bit of encouragement

I'm thinking that we're just about due for an encouragement post, if for no other reason than that my Pastor spoke some really encouraging words that I feel are rather fitting (link of online audio/video of said sermon) for a post of this nature:

"See, sometimes we get so confused with this. We look at the world around us and everything around us seems to be so attractive, the wicked people seem to have things going for it... they have the stuff, and all these friends, and all the fun. Listen, you need to know that those who don't know Jesus are enslaved by sin. .... Riches and worldly pleasures all they get and then it comes to that... and then they have this emptiness, that is deep inside of them. Nothing in this world can satisfy it at all. You cant just live, according to the Word, you can live apart from Jesus Christ. ... When they die, things only get worse not better.  Don't envy the wicked, not even for a moment. There joy is only temporary, ours is eternal. Listen, those who know Jesus Christ, and those who live according to God's grace, have something that can not be seen or measured but is nonetheless real. Its real: We are forgiven, we're redeemed, we're justified, we're accepted, given a new name, given a new life, we're adopted, we're reconciled, we're empowered, we're filled, we're gifted and we're commissioned, and listen, we are numbered by the saints who are protected with the angels, (Voice getting louder, increasingly, building up to:) and when we die, we get to go to heaven. What a deal, right?"

The rest of the message included things like this this fr
om a portion of a prayer, in reference to the two mothers of Abraham's sons,
I quote:

"Which one do we come from? Which one do we represent? As the Apostle Paul says to those of us who are believers, we are children of the promise. Children of the promise. And God, I know that when you make a promise, you will keep it. We're seen this thru the life of Abraham and Sarah and thru Issac, and now Issac's descendents, all the way down to Jesus Christ, who has come down into this world, and into our lives, and offers to clean up the mess of our lives, that we've made. And so we are grateful today for Jesus, and we are thankful for the grace that was demonstrated, his mercy that was demonstrated when he went to the cross, when he was bound, hand a foot and became the Lamb who took away the sins of the world. And we thank you that was can live in relationship with that person, a personal relationship, and experience the freedom, just like Issac did when he walked away and begun to fulfill that plan that God had for him.Father I thank you. I thank you that we dont have to go to that cross, Thank you that the price has already been payed for our freedom. Help us today to live in the light of your grace, to live in the light of that freedom, and share that light with others..."

Perhaps you should just go see the entire thing, save me a bit of typing,haha....
I do have the link up in purple (if you want to listen in, I recommend not the video but the mp3 method, so you can play it 2X the speed, based on length)
