Technically this post was supposed to go out in the week between Christmas and New Year... but I forgot and it got lost amidst other things.

You would have gotten a few cliche words about making resolutions. Maybe a shoutout to the fact that they began construction in something like 1173 and how long ago that was.

Here is the translation, still as lovely and awesome a few weeks later as it would have been before:

As engraved on the Lübeck Cathedral

 (Lübeck, Germany)

Ye call Me Master and obey me not,

Ye call Me Light and see Me not,

Ye call Me Way and walk not,

Ye call Me Life and desire Me not,

Ye call Me wise and follow Me not,

Ye call Me fair and love Me not,

Ye call Me rich and ask Me not,

Ye call Me eternal and seek Me not,

Ye call Me gracious and trust Me not,

Ye call Me noble and serve Me not,

Ye call Me mighty and honor Me not,

Ye call Me just and fear Me not,

If I condemn you, blame me not.
If you would like to read it in German, search this: "Ihr nennt mich Meister, so fragt mich doch. / Ihr nennt mich Licht, so seht mich doch."

Actually, I have found that the German has a different ending than the "translation" and the wording is different throughout. Weird, right?

Here is an image equivalent of the above.

Hey again. Today I have an interview to share... Be sure to give her a visit and leave a comment or two!

Kate, to Allie: Hello, and welcome to majesticgoldenrose. Thanks for answering some questions for me! (to audience) Everyone give a warm welcome to Allie from Spreading My Joy.

Kate: Tell us about yourself! Like, for example, what color hair do you have?

Allie:  It is brown with golden red and blonde natural highlights.

Kate: Cool. My hair is a dark brown and has a bit of a red shine since I colored it with henna. I love it :) (pauses) What is your favorite pattern?

Allie: I like chevron

Kate: Alright, thats a popular one. If you had to choose one, music, writing, or photography?

Allie: Photography. But I like music and writing as well.

Kate: Me too. I think music and naturey-photography are about tied for me. So my next question is if you could change your name to anything, what would you change it to?

Allie: I wouldn’t change my name for the world! I have only ever known/known of one person with my name.

Kate: Yeah, I have known several girls named Alex though and its the same that there are a lot more Katelyns and Katies than Kates. I even once met a Cathyrn who went by Cayt. Weird, lol.... Anyway, dogs or cats?

Allie: Dogs! I don’t really like cats. But I am slightly allergic.

Kate: Aww, thats no fun. I am a cat person and not allergic thankfully :) What is your worst pet peeve?

Allie: I don’t really know. I don’t like northern accents. (Sorry northerners!) Or people who are just annoying in general.

Kate: I get that. Southern accents are my favorite, but I'm stuck with a northern one since Ive lived in PA all my life.... What is your favorite animal?

Allie: I have always loved monkeys. I also love dogs.

Kate: I know right? Monkeys are pretty cool. When I went to Costa Rica for a week in November they were in the trees and we would make monkey-noises at one another. Miss that place :( Also d
o you have any siblings?

Allie: I have two older sisters,
Sarah and Mackenzie, and a twin brother, Ethan.

Kate: Lol. I have a character in my WIP named Ethan and he is a twin too. My FMC (female main character) is named Emma though. They have a little brother named Gavin and if I dont edit her out, there is a Sophie too. What is your favorite TV show?

Allie: I like Girl Meets World, Fixer Upper, Bringing UP Bates, and The Middle

Kate: Alright. I dont watch TV so literally dont know what any of those are. I'm just more of a book person I guess.
What books do you like to read?

Allie: Just Christian fiction I think. Is that what it’s called?

Kate: Yeah. I read historical Christian if I am doing Christian, and sometimes Amish because there is always someone dying and its entertaining to watch them freak out. (Literally every book though!) I also do a bit of middle grade sci-fi/dystopian and whatever else.

Kate: Thanks for answering some questions for me. Bye for now!!

Well, looks like I did it again. This morning I kept reminding myself not to forget to post something, but clearly I did anyway. So being that it is after ten now, looks like you'll be getting today's post at 11. Sorry so late, posts will go out at 8 like usual Friday.

Also its crazy how many of these are political, religious, or in another language.  You bet I got distracted reading all the Spanish ones instead of getting some to entertain you guys :)

P.S. My favorite is the last one. :)

Does the Bible Matter?

If I could ask you a question, do you believe that there is a Creator out there, some sort of god or eternal being? And then if you are the creation, and God is the Creator, what happens when you disagree with your Creator? Will you listen?

What I am getting at is, there is a creator of the universe and I believe that he is great and I am small. And there are things both in this world and in his Book that I never would have come up with. But my goal is that when we disagree on certain things, it is only right for me to surrender my opinions and desires to those of the eternal one. I read so much of this book that I disagree with, and we are all going to. The question becomes when you disagree with it, will you assume God is wrong or you are?

Before we get to what does this book say, if you disagree, would you still surrender to Almighty God? Thats the issue.

Are you to tell eternal, holy God how to run his world or is it up to us to study his book and act on it?

There are movements that suggest we need to learn Greek and Hebrew or study theology for years in college before we apply it.... but isnt most of the time that we cry "What does the Bible say about this" and "I dont understand that" that we are really just being stubborn and dont want to do what it says? Because I know personally that its hard to be willing to do whatever God asks, follow where ever he leads, love whoever you interact with and go above and beyond to make Christ known. It is.

You might not have liked what Ive said/implied so far, but that was me too. Growing up, my parents would take me to church sometimes, but I was against Christianity until I was 12 or so. At that point I realized there was a God and I remember praying to God him for hope and help because I had been in a very dark place. It wasn't a "I will follow you" prayer, but it was an acknowledgement that there was a god and I wanted him in my life. Step one, being humble. Then a year later, I was more ready to trust him and started making changes in my life. You know, not *saying* I repent, but deciding to live it out.

Its interesting because before that, I hadn’t spent time in Sunday school class or some little program to learn scripture. So when I found God I didn’t know how a Christian is “supposed to act” you know;  the Bible never said eternal redemption required you show up for coffee once a week.... I just had me and my Bible and I read through it and it only made sense to start doing things it said. So God started turning things upside down in my life, starting a dramatic restoration of me.

Its hard because we grow up to serve God, but only when it fits in out plans.  Even Job goes to God with this very question of who makes the rules and our God says "You're questioning me?? I created the universe and you are questioning me? My thoughts are up a here and you're are down there.... and how old are you again?" We don’t like this idea, and to an extent, you don't have to like what God says. in fact, the Romans hated Jesus so much that they hung their Creator.

But at the end of the day, nothing you do or say can keep the corpse of God in the grave. In Job everyone was trying to give him advice, everyone tries to reason about what is right or wrong in their eyes, but at the end of the book God has the final word. God is the most powerful, God is the solid rock. We look at things that happen, and they arent good from our perspective. But Job chooses to trust his Creator instead of doubting and we can too.

Sometimes we assume the strongest Christians are those who have been a Christian the longest, or know the most about the Bible. In reality its those who seek to know our Almighty God and trust in him and his ways as better than their own.  And in this light, the Bible matters, even today in 2016, an awful lot.
